Makeup Camera: How to Have Fun with Lip Art, Hair Color, and Accessories
You can click here to get access to a replay of the virtual makeup lesson party that Iren and I held! She shared lots of tips and tricks and you can follow along to create a camera-ready look.
Iren suggests a matte lipstick or colored lip gloss, which will help you look polished. Since the camera can make you look washed-out, Iren suggests a bright color. As for matching lip color to your outfit, Iren says it can be a fun way to pull your look together.

Even if you do wear makeup regularly, any on-camera makeup requires a slightly heavier hand. With that in mind, you need to prepare your skin for what is going to be applied. Peeling, dry skin will flake even more once products are put on, so be sure to moisturize in advance. You want to make sure it has time to sink in.
Shine is the enemy for any on-camera performer. What may look dewy and youthful in person can come across as just plain greasy on video. Powder, either loose or compact, can take that shine out of the equation. If you are in a studio, you also may sweat under the lights. In fact, if you are doing a high-stakes presentation on camera, you may sweat regardless of the heat generated by your lighting. Perspiration can slide your makeup off of your face. Powder can help to prevent that.
Thanks so much for your interest in training for on camera communication, skills that are certainly more relevant today than ever. We would love to learn more about your particular needs. With that in mind, we would appreciate you answering a few questions; we look forward to hearing from you.
The lights and camera will wash out your natural skin tone, so you need makeup to bring your skin back to life and keep you from looking like a ghost. Warm colors are best for video. Cooler colors are overly exaggerated on camera. Be sure to use matte and neutral hues. Also, avoid high-shine that is commonly found in blushes, lip glosses, and eye shadow.
Men at least require powdered makeup, especially if they are bald. Bald heads reflect lights, so powdered makeup is needed all over their head to prevent light from bouncing off of them. The oil produced by pores shines on camera, and a small amount of powder can significantly reduce that.

Wearing shimmer on camera is never a good idea. No matter how tiny the glitter flakes are, it can read as shine, which as we know from rule #2, translates into oily skin on camera. Instead, opt for matte eye shadows, lipsticks and blushes.
In real life, there's nothing targeting and bouncing light off of your face, washing out your features. Plus, the human eye sees differently than the lens of a camera (obvs), which is why you look very different in the mirror versus in a picture.
With InstaBeauty, you don't have to put on makeup to get the perfect selfie. You can do that after taking the shot. It contains more than 50 makeup styles and 100 filters at your disposal. You can change the shape of your eyebrows, apply lipstick, and redden your cheek. Best of all, applying these is easy. You only need to tap the makeup button, select your favorite makeup, and let the app do its magic.
Aside from beauty makeup, InstaBeauty has four other tools. There is a beauty camera with over a dozen beauty presets and filters on the camera. Each preset has different levels of smoothing, toning, and removing imperfections, which you can fine-tune better by tapping the adjust button. More than pictures, you can also enhance your videos on-the-go using the beauty video tool. Like the beauty camera, this feature beautifies your videos as you capture them.
Heavy, cakey foundation can settle in fine lines and wrinkles, which can seriously diminish your usual hotness. The best thing about today's smartphone cameras is that they pick up every last detail.
A touch of glow won't hurt, but in general, you want to avoid shimmer or pearlescent makeup in excess. Shimmery makeup causes light to scatter, which can cast weird shadows and shapes on the face. On camera, this can look like dirt. Unless you're going for an earthy-hiker look, get rid of the glimmer.
This last one is mostly a preventative measure. You want to make sure your glow-up doesn't go to waste, and, as every photographer knows, the right light is key. Just like makeup, this aspect can make or break a photo. Sure, you can invest in some artificial lighting, but that gets costly, time-consuming, and has the potential to go very wrong. Even a mere flash can wash out the best and boldest makeup colors.

The main benefits of rose water are its amazing anti-inflammatory properties. Combined with cornflower water, it can help soothe minor cutaneous irritations and puffiness by regenerating the skin. The astringent action helps regulate sebum secretion and adds radiance to the complexion. Orange blossom gives the epidermis a fresh feeling while cleansing pores. Witch hazel water tightens the skin. Eau de Beauté Rosamélis leaves a very soft and comfortable skin, its texture is tighter, and the complexion is glowing and fresh. It also helps fix makeup.
The flawless makeup application with minimal product on the skin is the best approach for this type of images. Foundation and/or powder melted by the warmth of the skin gathers in the tiniest skin creases and fine lines, which becomes visible in extreme closeup shots and you may easily overlook it as you shoot.
If you are shooting eye makeup or, for example, different types of false eyelashes for a client, you definitely want to make sure your model arrives with freshly groomed eye brows. It is your responsibility to request that from the agency, or mention it in the email when sending out the Call Sheet to the team.
Your choice of the light modifier for the main light will greatly influence the look and feel of the images. While a Beauty Dish positioned relatively far from the face may look fine as a reflection in the eye as well as on a matte, satin or metallic lipstick, I personally find that a large octabox is ideal for beautiful reflections in the glossy eye makeup or on the highly reflective lipgloss.

To find the makeup filter, you need to turn on Bixby Vision. Do this by opening the camera app and tap on the eye icon in the lower left-hand corner. At the bottom of the screen, you will see a gallery of different options to choose from such as shopping, food, and places but you will want to find the one labeled Makeup.
Any photos you take within the makeup section of Bixby Vision will automatically save to your gallery. That way, you can send your looks to family and friends without the presence of all the makeup options underneath. You can then choose from the apps installed on your smartphone to share it to such as Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail.
